Sammie The Surfing Starfish
By Eric Cotie
Meet Sammie the Surfing Starfish. I found her as a gelatinous blob at the high tide line and spread her on to the beach stone as shown. I was on my way to Surf Cast and set them by the trail. An hour later I picked up the already hardening piece, packed the car and left for the eight hour ride home.
About a year later, I coated her with poly and made the display. Driftwood board with crab or lobster pinser fins, beach combed Brain Coral foam / spray all mounted on scrap 3/8″ plywood and framed in reclaimed white oak pallet wood.
Oh, I added the blue and green LEDs for a tacky effect. (Actually, that didn’t turn out as I envisioned).
